Heather is an internationally certified, fully insured henna artist in the Boston/Providence metro area. She has been doing henna since she began college in 1999. As an anthropology major at Boston University (2002), her passion for the art of henna comes from a deep respect for the cultures that use henna traditionally. Her current path as a linguistics PhD student compliments doing henna on weekends and during the summers perfectly, and she is happy to be able to continue to share this beautiful art form.

Heather is the hostess of the Northeast Henna Gathering, the largest get-together of henna artists in the New England and the Northeastern US. She teaches workshops for colleges, schools, after school programs, libraries, and adult education. Her henna work has been featured at such respected galleries as the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, the Hygeinic Art Gallery, the Traina Center for the Arts, and was featured in world reknown henna artist Riffat Bahar's henna exhibit at the Slough Museum in the United Kingdom. Her artwork, having won a competition open to all henna artists worldwide, graces packaging for henna kits sold by Amerikan Body Art.

Heather's instructional videos have been an inspiration and important source of information for innumerable henna artists in training. Her book of henna patterns in all styles, designed specifically for henna beginners, is has been published electronically, and shares free henna patterns with all who visit her website.

Heather is extremely grateful for how the art of henna has taken her to so many interesting places and helped her meet so many wonderful people. She looks forward to continuing on this journey and meeting many more lovely folks.

As a side note, Heather would like to mention that she also is pursuing her doctoral degree in Applied Linguistics at Boston University. Her primary research interests are in second language acquisition and phonology, and she is certified to teach both English as a Second Language and Spanish at the middle school and high school levels in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. You may think of hiring Heather to do henna at your event as contributing to her personal scholarship fund, allowing her to focus on her studies while taking a brief hiatus from her teaching responsibilities :)
