Thank you, Yelpers!
Last night I did a party at Tantric Indian Bistro in Boston for Yelp Elite Boston. Everyone was dressed in costumes that, for the most part, were exceedingly clever, unique, or both. I was contacted by both the Yelp Boston community leader *and* the owner of the restaurant, who found me using different methods... they wanted me to come do henna in exchange for free / for exposure...which normally screams "do not do this gig!!!" loud and clear... but somehow I knew this one would be cool. I'm a sucker for a swanky Indian restaurant right in the theater district, and a night spent with probably smart, probably dorky (in a good way), probably amusing people. So I took a gamble and agreed to do it. Not only did the owner unexpectedly generously compensate me with a gift certificate that will nicely finance a night out with friends in their hookah lounge, but she was super sweet and friendly to boot! Yelpers tipped far better than the average crowd, perhaps thanks to the handy little "Yelp's gratuitous guide to tipping" that Leighann, the community leader, so cleverly placed right next to an empty glass on my henna table.
Anyway... I did tons of custom designs, which was very fun. It was awesome to have people not always pick things from the book....these were people who trusted me when I said I do my best work when they just give me an idea and I run with it...and I think they were glad they did... because check out the 5 new 5-star reviews they gave to Henna By Heather on Yelp :).
And all of the mentions of the henna within the event as a whole are really a treat to read as well!
I feel loved.
Very cool.
If you've ever had henna done by me, and want to leave me more nice reviews there, and share even more love, please feel free :)
